Proper Handling of Furniture

6/24/2020

Picture
If you are rearranging rooms or moving, be sure you are properly handling your furniture. As with all objects, the greatest chance of damage comes when an item is being moved. Where nitrile gloves to protect the finish surface from oils in your hands. Furniture should never be pulled, pushed, or dragged, as this can strain joints and cause breaks. Be sure there is a clear path to the item’s new location. Using a cart or flatbed with pads and blankets helps protect against the potential for damage. When in transit, secure furniture with padded soft cords that are not over-tightened and avoid rolling over bumpy surfaces.
Don’t pick up chairs by the back or by arms; lift them by under the seat with the other hand supporting the back. Use discretion with large pieces of furniture and have two people lift from either side if one individual cannot safely lift the piece without potentially damaging it. Furniture with component pieces should be disassembled and moved separately to reduce unpredictable weight distribution. Any moveable component that cannot be disassembled from a piece of furniture should be safely secured. Marble and glass tops have a considerable amount of horizontal weight and should be carried vertically to avoid cracking or splitting.
If you need help moving an object or collection to a new location, please contact Guardian.
Whether moving a piece within your home or across the country, our trained art handlers use museum best practices to move art and objects safely.

My sister will move out of her apartment next month; that's why she's currently looking for furniture moving service so it would be more convenient. I'm glad you shared this; I'll make sure to inform my sister that she should have her furniture wrapped with pads and blankets. I'd also keep in mind to remind the movers that they must not carry them by arms or back.

Now that my sister wants to move next month, she's planning on finding a storage unit where she can keep her antique furniture so it's safe while she prepares her new apartment to fit it. Thanks for explaining that she needs to wear gloves to prevent the oils on her hands from harming the surface. It might also help for her to ensure that she finds a large enough storage unit so that the furniture can fit without touching each other to keep it safe.

It's terrific that you mention that hiring a moving company can make the process of relocating to a new house less stressful. I want to move all of my furniture to my new house this week, so I'm thinking about hiring a moving company to help me. I'm going to look for a good moving company in my area that I can employ.

My aunt has been thinking about getting rid of her couch because it is damaged. She would really like to get them removed by a professional in order to be safer. Thanks for explaining how she can make sure that it is properly managed with soft cords that are padded.

I liked it when you shared that it is important to hire a service that will properly handle your furniture during your moving day. My friend just mentioned the other day that she is planning to move to another house which is located in another state so she will live closer to her mother-in-law. I will suggest to her hiring a reliable moving service that can help move her things safely.

Thanks for helping me understand that furniture with component pieces should be disassembled first before moving. I guess I would really need the help of professionals now that I will move to another town this coming Septemer. I would need their help to deliver my furniture properly since I might damage them if I do the disassembling and reassembling by myself.

I like your furniture tips. I need new chairs. I'll have to get new ones made of wood.

Thanks for pointing out that any moveable component from a piece of furniture should be handled with care. With that in mind, we should hire a move furniture company we can trust to ensure that we don't lose any important part. It's for the antique furniture that my grandparents passed down to me which I will bring to my new apartment.

Thanks for pointing out that we should properly handle our furniture when moving to prevent them from getting damaged. My husband and I will be moving to our new bungalow house next month. With this, we will look for expert movers on Monday who can safely transport our belongings, including a grand piano.

My sister would like to look for a storage unit where she can place some of her belongings because they can no longer fit inside her house. Thank you for sharing here as well the importance of securing the furniture ahead of time. I also agree with you that they must be properly wrapped.

It got me when you said that furniture should be handled properly to avoid breaks and damages. I will be buying new furniture for my living room to make it look modern. I am hoping to find a delivery company on Friday that can transport my new sofa and tables safely.

I do agree that when looking to have our furniture moved, it is important that we ensure we wrap the furniture properly. It makes sense as in doing so, it ensures that the furniture is well protected against damages. I will definitely be more mindful of the proper packaging and transportation when I need my furniture moved.

I thought it was informative when you mentioned that furniture should never be dragged. I imagine that a lot of people drag their furniture up and down stairs when they are moving in or out of a house. To prevent yourself from having to drag things up or down stairs, you should probably hire a moving company.

Great post! Handling is an important part of any move, whether it is a commercial or residential move. Proper handling of items during a move can help ensure that items arrive in the same condition they were in before the move and can help prevent damage to the items. It can also help reduce the risk of injury to movers, as well as the risk of damage to property. Proper handling can also help reduce the time it takes to complete a move, as it can help speed up the process. In addition, proper handling can help make a move more efficient, as it can help reduce the amount of time it takes to unload and load items. You can also contact Harry The Mover to get the best moving and packing services.
